Robert S. Waldbaum, MD


Robert S. Waldbaum, MD, FACS, currently serves as Vice President for Physician Relations of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.  He is Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Urology at North Shore University Hospital and a Professor of Urology at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. Dr. Waldbaum was a Trustee of North Shore-LIJ Health System, a past-President of the medical staff at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, a past-President of the Urology Section of New York Academy of Medicine, a past-President of Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island Urological Association, and a past-President of the NY Section of American Urological Association (AUA).  He served as the National Historian of the AUA and a member of the Board of Directors for the National AUA.

Dr. Waldbaum is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Urology and the Society of Pediatric Urology. He has served as President of the P.H.O. Board at North Shore University Hospital and now is the President of the Physicians’ Organization of North Shore Hospital. He was Chairman of the Medical Board at North Shore University Hospital.

Dr. Waldbaum completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia College and his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons.  He completed his general surgery residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and his urology residency at Weill- Cornell Medical College.

Dr Waldbaum received the National Kidney Foundation of NY/NJ John Kingsley Lattimer Award for excellence in research, teaching and patient care as well as for outstanding leadership in urology. He was also the recipient of the Russell W. Lavengood Distinguished Service Award for the NY Section of the AUA.
