Gary Weiss, MD
Gary H. Weiss, MD, PhD earned his undergraduate degree from the Columbia College of Columbia University in May of 1975. He completed his MD and PhD degrees at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in June of 1982. Dr. Weiss then completed his surgery residency at the Vanderbilt Affiliated Hospitals in June of 1984 and his urology residency at the Strong Memorial Hospital Program in June 1988.
As acting co-director of the University of Rochester Department of Urology Research Laboratory, Dr. Weiss completed research in immunotherapy of bladder cancer, and instructional techniques for microsurgery.
Dr. Weiss was a Medical Staff Fellow In the Urologic Oncology Section, Surgery Branch, National Cancer Institute from July 1988 to August 1989. Here he worked on novel drugs for prostate cancer therapy. From August 1989 through August 1991 he was a Senior Investigator and an attending physician in the Urologic Oncology Section, Surgery Branch, National Cancer Institute. During this tenure he participated in the search for the Kidney Cancer Gene.
Dr. Weiss joined the Urology Department of Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1991, specializing in the evaluation and management of cancers of the urinary systems of men and women as well as cancers of the male genital system. He is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the American Urological Association, New York State Urological Society and the Society for Basic Urology Research.
