Fulguration of Bladder Lesions

What to expect before the procedure...

Our secretarial staff (718) 470-4645 / Fax: (718) 343-6254 will schedule your procedure at "I-Park's" ambulatory surgery facility.

Medical clearance and specific laboratory tests are required before your procedure and will be performed at I-Park.

If you have a history of heart problems, we may request additional clearance from your cardiologist, which may involve additional testing such as an Echocardiogram or Nuclear Medicine stress test. These tests would be ordered by your Primary Care Physician or Cardiologist depending on your medical history. Any patient who has a prosthetic device, a heart valve abnormality, or any reason for antibiotics to be given during a dental procedure should mention this to the surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Alka Seltzer, Vitamin E, Ticlid, Coumadin, Lovenox, Celebrex, Voltaren, Vioxx, Plavix and some other arthritis medications can cause bleeding and should be avoided one week prior to the date of surgery. Please contact our office if you are unsure about which medications to stop prior to surgery. Do not stop any medication without contacting the prescribing doctor to get their approval.

Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your procedure. No sucking candies or gum after midnight either.

You will be greeted by the staff of the Ambulatory Surgery Center on the date of your procedure. You will then be brought to a holding area where you will meet our nursing staff and your anesthesiologist. If you have questions that need to be addressed by the anesthesiology staff prior to your procedure, please call the Anesthesiology Office at (718) 470-7390.
